Band’s wishes finally honored.
The short, strange saga of the Beastie Boys song “Girls” and the viral video for toy manufacturer GoldieBlox is over. Rheanna Murray stated in a New York Daily News article:
California toy company GoldieBlox caved to the Beastie Boys and removed the group’s song from its incredibly viral video, dodging further legal drama over copyright infringement.
“We don’t want to fight with you. We love you and we are actually huge fans,” GoldieBlox CEO Debbie Sterling wrote to the band’s surviving members, Adam Horovitz and Michael Diamond, on the company’s website Wednesday.
